Our day begins with running feet that belong to a 3 year old giggly girl saying "snuggle mama" as she climbs into bed with me. That lasts until about 7:00 a.m., when I slowly arise from my beauty sleep, lol!
Now my 7 yo and 3 yo are awake they know what is expected, has been for as long I can remember, but for some reason they can't seem to remember from day to day. Why is that? I thought it took 2 weeks to create a habbit, it's been more than that! Any ways, they need to get dressed, tidy their room, make their beds and do their hair before breakfast is served. During this time I get ready to "socks", thanks fly lady ( we don't wear shoes in our home) and little man wakes up and I dress him also. Finally we are ready to eat--it's now 8:00. While the kids are eating I read: Bible, Polite Moments, Making Brothers and Sisters Best friends, and Big Thoughts for Little People. Now these are not always read everyday, with exception to our Bible reading we might read the others 1-2 times weeks and review what we've learned and always give real life scenarios to make sure they are getting it.
While the girls brush their teeth mom eats! Then we start our "main" lessons-math, spelling, LA. During this time I am trying do play with the 3 yo and 1 yo. My 3 yo will do "school" happily. We will then all gather and snuggle in the living room or someones bedroom and do our read alouds. Which lately have been wonderful. We are reading Peril and Peace-the History Lives series and Saint Patrick Pioneer Missionary to Ireland-great can't put it down books. In between I read a couple of books to my 3 yo, her choice then back to our other read alouds.
Then it's lunch. After lunch there is play/free time, more reading, finish anything that wasn't completed in the morning and then at 2:00 is rest time for everyone. My 7 yo can read/play quietly, while my 3 yo is highly encouraged:) to take a nap, usually in mom and dad's bed. Rest time is 2 hours. Then we start dinner and set the table. We get the house in "order" for dad's soon arrival and pj's on.
Then it's dinner, clean up, some wrestling with dad and read alooud time and once in awhile a family movie and then off to bed at 7:00 p.m. for all people under 5'.
This is a typical day in our life. But as seasons change so does our rhythm.
